Brown Silk Quilted Petticoat 1840's

This brown silk quilted petticoat skirt is from the 1840's is all hand stitched and made of a chocolate brown silk fabric. The waist treatment is cartridge pleating. It has a decorative hand quilted striped scalloped design along the bottom done in tiny even stitches. This wonderful winter petticoat has a full hoop skirt, is fully lined with a polished brown cotton fabric and has a wide linen waistband that someone has added a gray linen tie back closure. The petticoat measures 38 inches long, with an adjustable 30 inch waist.





Green Quilted Silk Petticoat 1840's

This green silk quilted petticoat skirt dates from the 1840's. It is all hand stitched and made of a pale celadon green silk brocade fabric with a raised swiss dot pattern. The waist is knife pleated. The bottom of the skirt has a decorative hand quilted garland leaf design. The winter petticoat has a full hoop skirt, is fully lined with a polished brown cotton fabric and has a linen waistband with no closure on back. The petticoat measures 40 inches long, with a 25 inch waist.
