Green Quilted Silk Petticoat 1840's
This green silk quilted petticoat skirt dates from the 1840's. It is all hand stitched and made of a pale celadon green silk brocade fabric with a raised swiss dot pattern. The waist is knife pleated. The bottom of the skirt has a decorative hand quilted garland leaf design. The winter petticoat has a full hoop skirt, is fully lined with a polished brown cotton fabric and has a linen waistband with no closure on back. The petticoat measures 40 inches long, with a 25 inch waist.
