Mom’s Brown Checkered Dress ~ Simplicity Pattern 3727

         There is piping around the neckline and the bodice fitting is done by bust and waist darts. The upper sleeves are full and is drawn into the sleeve with small box pleats. The skirt is cartridge pleated. A bustle was made to go with the dress since it is designed to be worn with one.

         It took me five days to make this dress. Two for cutting out the fabric and doing any necessary sizing changes. The third day for assembling the bodice, and the fourth and fifth for doing the finishing touches on the bodice, the cartridge pleated skirt and the bustle.
